Recognizing the need for an effective Biblical approach to counseling, a group
of experienced Christian counselors opened Compassion Christian
Counseling in October of 1998. The Clinic has built its ministry on the
concept of ministering to the whole person—spirit, soul and body. It became
self-supporting within three months and has been highly successful from the
outset. The ministry has seen phenomenal growth in its outreach to those
hurting in the community. The guiding principle of the ministry is found in
Luke 4:18-19, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He anointed me to
preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the
captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those that are
downtrodden, to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.”
The concept of ministering to the whole person is unique to this ministry and
one that sets it apart from other counseling modalities. Spiritual issues,
often neglected, are a primary focus of faith-based counseling and are
considered to be as important to healing as ministry to the body and soul.
Focusing on the root of the problem which often lies in the belief system,
rather than just the symptoms, is necessary for lasting recovery and is key to
the successful application of the Faith-Based Therapy™
Model.
Since it’s beginning, CCC counselors have helped hundreds of people and
influenced many to take up the cause of Christ. By God’s grace, family
relationships have been restored, divorces prevented, addictions broken, and
difficult life issues resolved.
